"You Really Got A Hold Of Me" right dad?

I won't even start to talk about my feeling about the King of Pop. I am very interested in the case as is everyone else in the world. MJ has issues, no doubt, but I am not gonna throw him under the bus. I'll just sit here and watch the drama unfold and listen to everyone else yell their opinions at each other.

What I will do is post this track I have laying around. My WinAmp was shuffling through the thousands of songs I have, and came across this oldie but goodie. In the spirit of MJ watching, I thought I really should post this one.

Michael Jackson featuring The Notorious B.I.G.
"You Really Got A Hold On Me" Remix
(taken off the DJ Vlad & Dirty Harry - "The Notorious B.I.G.: Rap Phenomenon" mixtape! I got mines, click here to order yours!)

~MJ speaks on the team-up with Bigge and hip-hop love.
Unbreakable VIBE Magazine Interview - March 2002

VIBE: Are you feeling hip hop?

MJ: I like a lot of it, a lot of it. I like the music. I don't like the dancing that much. It looks like they're doing aerobics.

VIBE: How did you decide to feature Biggie Smalls on "Unbreakable", off Invincible?

MJ: It wasn't my idea, actually. It was Rodney Jerkins's, one of the writer/producers working on the album. It was my idea to put a rap part on the song, and he said, "I know just the perfect on - Biggie." He put it in, and it worked perfectly.

VIBE: Why did you choose Jay-Z for the remix of the first single, "You Rock My World"?

MJ: He's hip, the new thing, and he's with the kids today. They like his work. He's tapped into the nerve of popular culture. It just made good sense.

VIBE: What was it like for you to appear at New York's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert as Jay-Z's guest?

MJ: I just showed up and gave him a hug. There was a tumultuous explosion of applause and stomping, a lovely, lovely welcome, and I was happy about that. It was a great feeling - the love, the love.

~PS.
The song title is ripe for comments and jokes by the way. Feel free to post your comments or just vent. I think I'll pop my copy of "The Wiz" in the VCR and reminisce of the gloved one's better days.

MP3/P2P :
Ok, I have a confession to make. I still download MP3s. Althought I don't download the usual stuff and I do limit my downloads to a respectable amount, I am still jacking for beats like Ice Cube in a skullie coving the jheri curls. Right now I have "Elektra","Polar Express", "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" and a few others in my download folder. I know I'm wrong for downloading but the reality is I already saw "Harold & Kumar", and I got "Polar Express" for junior, who also saw it at the theaters. So it pisses me off that if I download a movie that I have already paid to watch, the Internet Police might come for me.

While stewing over this, I came across an article written by Richard Menta on the subject.
He raises some interesting points, like the relativly small number of people who download movies compared to the current "sue the customer" mentality that is emerging in Hollywood and corporate America in general.

Yo, don't sleep on this kid Immortal Technique. Dude is too real for radio. The way he spits, I'm sure the hip-hop task force is already following him, but he is NOT one of the usual suspects. Real hip-hop with something to say! Peep game at Viper Room.com.(click the pic above)

Shake It Up Baby

Please welcome the newest Canhead on the block, Ms. Sonja Valentine! She is a poetess extreme who drops knowledge at her spot "Inner Revolution, Shake It Up Baby", and is a huge hip-hop fan so you know shes aiiight with me! I'm trying to get her to post on Canhead so show her some love and check her site out for some words. (She's a little shy so make her feel at home!)

I Got Your Back! (but you best to watch your front!)

Dear Backers,

It has been just over a month since over 5,000 of you lined the streets of Washington, DC and, through one unified action, delivered a message to Bush, the country, and the world. Over 50 million people heard about Turn Your Back on Bush; on TV, in newspapers, on the radio, and online, and our work together continues to make waves.

Last week a group attending President Bush’s Social Security forum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire got national coverage when they took of their coats to reveal Turn Your Back on Bush t-shirts at the ticketed event. And in Europe many people have adopted this tactic, turning their backs on Bush during his European tour.

Check out our home page – for a link to the NPR story on Turn Your Back on Bush in New Hampshire, the Onion's front-page article about our action and to see Saturday Night Live's coverage of Turn Your Back on Bush.

For many of you, this was your first time participating in a political action. For others, it was another step on a long road of activism, organizing, and working for social change. It was the role of the Turn Your Back on Bush team to facilitate this action, to give you the tools and resources you needed to make it a success. We believe we were successful to that end, and from the countless phone calls and emails we have gotten since the Inauguration, we are confident that it was a success for you too.And there is more to do!

Turn Your Back on Bush is part of a growing movement of small groups taking on the Bush Administration's policies, and we’ll be using this list to pass on information about what we’re doing as well as actions and ideas that other groups are working on. We were just two people when we started – and if we learned anything from this experience it’s that we all have the power to make change. We're reposting some of the resources we found most helpful in building this action on our website - non-violence training manuals and information on creating successful non-violent actions.

We encourage you to use them and pass them on - you can find them (the home page)
We’ll be continuing to send out updates through this email list, and we’ll keep on adding media links and other important links to the website, and if you’ve got news you’d like to share with us, please send it to info@turnyourbackonbush.org.

Thanks,
The Turn Your Back on Bush Team

www.TurnYourBackonBush.org

P.S. We've developed a presentation about Turn Your Back on Bush which we've shown at several conferences in the last few weeks. It tells the story of how this action came about and we'd like to use it to inspire more people to use creative action to resist the Bush administration's polices. If you're interested in having one of us bring this presentation to your group, please let us know!

You Know What Time It Is!

The most annoying thing about being online sometimes is just being online.
You never know if your going to be able to post your latest thoughts or not. Even if you pay for server space or hosting, every once in a while, your website will just disappear. Most of the time, you will be able to save most of your information or your host provider will get it together and bring your site back to life, Soul II Soul style.

So a few days back, I was online, preparing a post for Valentine's Day. I was almost done, just about to do a final spell check when BLAM! Canhead froze up. I couldn't get back into my Blogging Dashboard. I sent emails to Blogger, checked back daily, and still nothing. It's weird..the site was still up and almost everything worked, but I couldn't add new post or correct any problems or typos.

So I thought I was forced to start over again, for the 3rd time. I started to make a new blog spot, dreading losing all my visitors and such. Then I checked it today and it worked. I'm back.

I am already outgrowing the blog space, as I want a media page, shopping cart and e-store, as well as blog and events calendar. Sooner or later I will have to upgrade to a paid host. But I'm back now, so let's get back to business. I will be back on point in a minute..ps any blogger.com bloggers have any problems lately? Let me know if so.....

Get the connection? Dark Phoenix..my blog died and is back..meaner and funkier than ever. ONE YOURSELF!
