The Cyber Mix Tape Show- Watch Wednesday 11/28/07 Recap

If you missed last nights Watch Wednesday edition of the Cyber Mix Tape Show, then take a listen to the archive below! We had a chance to talk to music producer K-Beats, jazz musician Amin from the Amin El Collective, and some of our closest friends. We discussed both producers careers and discogs, and chopped it up about the new Wu-Tang Clan and Ghostface Killah albums, and played some music from them as well as tracks by Prodigal Sunn, Chi King & JhaVoice.

Somewhere in the middle of the show, I lost my VoIP connection and had to call back on a thin sounding land line. The show went on, as my guest held the fort down for a second while I made the switch. Overall the show was another hit for us! Take a listen to it below!

NEXT LIVE BROADCAST --- FRIDAY NIGHT 9PM PST------

chocolate fountain! @ Pajama Party

Yeah, it was hard to compete with this act. We had singers and musicans on stage, and a house DJ. Nothing could overshadow that incredible chocolate fountain!

Can you believe all I had from that fountain was 2 chocolate covered strawberries and a few dipped choclate chip cookies! With all my running around backstage, I never got to get my grub on properly!

Oh yeah, you gotta love that logo in the back of the shot....working it!

Really Really Good: Blogged out-Blogcritics rocks the socks off BWE in Vegas!

Blog World New Media Expo wound up last week, leaving hundreds in attendance happy and blogged out! The event was filled with exhibition booths, great panel speakers and an opening party filled with web celebs and up and coming stars! While the number of general people off the streets was relatively small, that made it easier for those who made the trek to Vegas to actually meet the vendors, speakers and media! Soon as I walked into the expo with JhaVoice and the band, (shouts to Alex, Jorge, and Ozmo!) I was greeted by Patti from BlogWorld. She guided us through the gates and we were soon mingling with some of the best bloggers alive!

We stood up front for second, listening to the live broadcast from Townhall.com, and Pajama’s Media’s booth both vying for attention! Later I was interviewed by Carmen of SiTV.com and LuvCarmen.com The hot and steamy questions that she asked me, got a little hot under the coller for a second but was a fun little bit thanks to Talitha and the guys behind the lens at Luv Carmen.com. Make sure you check her blog at Sitv.com too!

I spent the majority of Thursday evening, wearing the manager hat, as JhaVoice, our amazing recording act here at the Kayaro compound prepared for the performance at the opening party, held in the Hard Rock Casino. As we made our quick rounds through the expo and jetted back and forth from the hotels and The Hard Rock, I tried to stop and smell the digital roses that were the numerous contacts in the blogsphere! People from all corners of the internet were in the house that night, from movers and shakers like Matt Mullenweg and the guys behind Wordpress.com, Leo Laporte, Will Leitch and a host of others.

Once we got the show on the road, all the tension and jitters faded and we were able to relax and party with everyone in our hidden dressing room. If you were in the house that night, I must apologize for the sound crew at The Hard Rock, as they decided to turn down the main volume, half way through the performance that night, causing all in attendance to jerk their heads toward the BOH system in unison, with puzzled looks on their face like “What happened to the sound?” Seems like JhaVoice was overpowering the social mixer and people couldn’t hear themselves smooze. Once the minor setback was overcome, JhaVoice and the crew got back into the groove with an impromptu live session, as Deana Tha Poet, Sincere and Lioness rocked the freestyle spoken word set to the live guitar work. The night was topped with tremendous response, despite the sound setbacks!

The next day was just as exciting, I got to take a slower paced walk thru the booths and hang out with some of my BlogCritics & B5 friends for a bit. It was fun finally putting faces to the names of some of our editors here at the sinister cabal of superior writers, and when we all put together the next big event, you all really should try and make it out! If anything, I wish I had more time to hang with everyone as it was really cool to take a look at our little family, all nestled up together, watching some of the side companies blatantly try to take some of our shine! I mean was it me, or did everyone in attendance step up Blogcritics booth at least twice?? We were the cool kids on the block, hands down, sans poker table and stand up-comedians.

While Phil took a quick run to In & Out for burgers, I chatted with Dave Nalle a bit about one of the great loves of anyone southern, barbecue. He has a new book out that already has me getting ready to plan a trip to Austin, to sample the Texan BBQ grills! The whole conversation reminded me just how long it’s been since I’ve been to Memphis, I may have to head down there to do some research! Eric and I spoke briefly about plans to expand our horizons at BlogCritics, with podacst and video streams all being considered. The future looked so bright at the BC booth, that we all really should have had our shades! From there we headed to the panel, as briefly spoke at a pop culture panel, put on by Eric. We actually had a handful of people in our room, as I winged it and tried to sound like I had a clue. The conversation was fun though, and one of the highlights of the expo for me personally.

I had a chance to set up a radio interview on BlogTalkRadio.com, with JhaVoice and I sitting in with Sean for a second. The guys at BTR were very welcoming and we look forward to speaking with them soon! Thanks to Lisa for kicking it with us and the kind words, see you in San Fran soon! Be on the lookout for more from us at Blog Talk Radio.

The thing about going to an event like this one is that you want to try and meet everyone. The closer you get to meeting that goal, the more your head begins to spin! We met tons of great people at BlogWorld and hope to stay in touch with you all. After listening to the keynote address for a bit and managing to meet Lynne d. Johnson of Fast Company for about a second, I headed back to the hotel for some overdue lunch. Our plans to catch up to the rest of the BC crew fell apart due as the dinner started to weight in and slow our motivation. The 3 AM last minute recording session booked later that night also took some of the wind out of my sails as I called it a wrap on BWE.

I am compiling a list of all the assorted BC/BWE links of the event, to share with you. Feel free to share your links & pics from BlogWorld here! Thanks again to Rick, Patti and everyone at the expo for a great time!

See ya at the next one! Check below for a few pics from the expo!

Blog World Expo: Pajama Media Party

Not sure who took this one, I think it was DJ Steve Boyett's friend, but I love it becasue you can see JhaVoice on the IMAGE screen in the back while bloggers smooze and booze the night away.

Laron Cue @ Pajama Party

yet another great shot from Anna's angle!

Introducing Laron Cue @ Pajama Party

Just found these photos from The Pajama party in Vegas! The shot looks like a fun pose but at this exact moment, DJ Steve Boyett was yelling at the crowd like a madman, telling them to get into the party and make some cot-damn noise!
It's funny now, but it was not so much fun at that exact moment in time. Thanks to Anna for the great shot!

Laron meets the BC crew!

What can I say, we could have had a better crowd, but those that came out had a good time, if you weren't there you missed the impromptu jam session as JhaVoice, Q.Rock639, Flux and DJ Shiro ripped a freestyle flow session. Thanks to the costume party people who were doing their thing upstairs, as they floated in our little shindig and enjoyed the sights and sounds. We are planning the next one, and will be blasting off MySpace bulletins and emails on that soon.

ROCKERS--25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

ROCKERS is a Reggae triumph. By all critical standards ROCKERS is one of the greatest Reggae films ever. Starring Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace and Richard "Dirty Harry" Hall, it’s a Robin Hood style story of oppressed Jamaican musicians getting even with the "mafia types" in the business.

But it is the all-star musical performances, appearances, and soundtrack that sets ROCKERS apart, featuring Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer, Third World, Peter Tosh, Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Kiddus I, Junior Murvin, Inner Circle, the Heptones, & Abyssinians.

ROCKERS includes acting roles and appearances by Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Burning Spear, Kiddus I, Robbie Shakespeare, Leroy Smart, Big Youth, & Dillinger. Join us as we celebrate the life of one of the classic reggae films, “Rockers”.

Really Really Good: Star Gazing

Really Really Good: Star Gazing

Peace and hairgrease, my good online people! Prepare to take another fantastic voyage on the RRG starship, hitting nebulas and black holes from here to the Pleiades and back! Moving at mach speed through cyber space, I have gathered yet another collection of earthen video delights, news from the blue sphere and more mojo from the dojo. Yeah, we know YouTube has won the popularity contest between online video site, there are still tons out there that are worth your cubicle time. Nothing but the best in online sights and sounds, guerilla multimedia tactics, and funky fresh flicks of chicks, packed into one super duper fly column.

As Captain Sisco would say, “BATTLE STATIONS!”

UPDATE: Bell released from jail!
taken from CNN.com
Mychal Bell, a black teenager accused of beating a white classmate and who was the last of the "Jena 6" behind bars, was released from custody Thursday after a juvenile court judge set his bail at $45,000.

The Jena 6 in depth page is worth a look as well!

Judge denies bail for 'Jena 6' teen

FOX News "Balances" Jena 6 With Black Racism
Wow, I am really starting to hate this guy Sean Hannity. When talking to Rev. Al Sharpton regarding race, what else, he showed his balanced reporting skills by comparing the words of Isaiah Thomas to the actions of the Jena 6. The best part is at the very end of the clip, when he acts like he can’t hear Sharpton and ignores the real question at hand.

Weekend Recap: Respect My Fresh!

What a week we just had here at the Kayaro/Canhead camp!

"Fresh: A Day In The Life" was amazing, big shouts to everybody that came through and supported the movement, and rocked the backyard. Percee P said it reminded him of how they used to do it waay back in the day, in the boogie down Bronx. Just set up some chairs, throw some music on the turntables, plug the mics in and get busy. The free food helped attract the party people a bit too, I think!

Thanks to Matt and everybody at 33Third, Big Smoq, Rezin, Main Vybe, Tommy Black, DJ Shiro, and everyone there! We are working on the visuals and hope to get them up this week so stay tuned!

Happy earth day shouts to JhaVoice! The birthday cake was a nice touch to the "Fresh" show, and we have been celebrating the day ever since! We wish many happy more to our songbird, JhaVoice!

Concert Review-UCLA Jazz Reggae Festival 2007-Jill Scott, Lupe Fiasco, J'Davey, Les Nubian and more

I had a chance to catch the UCLA Jazz Reggae Festival, on Sunday May 27th, 2007. The festival was a perfect start to a season filled with music, ushering in the Memorial Day Weekend, and beginning of summer. The two day event is a regular function to Los Angeles, and this year’s line up was as spectacular as ever. Luciano, Jill Scott, Cham, Lupe Fiasco, and J’Davey are just a few of the acts that rocked the open air summer stage over two days. The UCLA fairground is a huge venue, with vendors serving food and drinks, as well as merchants with booths full of T-Shirts, CDs, books, and all sorts of goodies. I was only able to catch Sunday’s show, but the performances were more than enough to satisfy.

Christian ScottWhile I did miss Dujeous, the opening act, by the time I found my way to a nice plot of land to lay the blankets and assorted accessories, Christian Scott was serenading the early crowd with his jazz band in tow. Scott and his band rocked the house with their funky jazz breaks, with Scott’s trumpet in lead. Christian and his horn can be heard on the new CD Rewind That, as well as on the song “Prison”, off the X-Clan Return From Mecca album. Make sure you are on the watch for this rising jazz star and his band.

Soulive was the next group onstage, and the newly signed Stax Records act brought their blend of reggae, R&B, and southern soul to the Westwood concert goers. The band has added a lead singer, Toussaint, and his soulful delivery is a welcome addition to the well known sound of Soulive.

J'DaveyJ’Davey brought their funky, electro, punk R&B vibe to JamFest, with Ms. Davey rocking the set with her playful voice and her stage performance. One of the more anticipated groups out of Los Angeles, the newly signed Warner Brothers act did their thing and brought the energy level up.

Les Nubian came out next with their Fela inspired face paint, and international sound. The duo did some of their hits like "Temperature Rising", “Taboo”, "Makeda", "Demain" and covered some of their newer material before giving the stage up to Lupe Fiasco. The crowd rushed to the stage and it was clear who many of the crowd came to see!

Les Nubian
Lupe ran out on stage and proceeded to tear it down, opening with Jay-Z’s “What Cha Got” before going into his verse from Kanye West’s “Touch The Sky”. Fiasco did his cuts “Kick, Push” and raised the roof with his powerful “American Terrorist”. Before he left, he gave one of the best performances of the day, and prepared the stage for the headliner, Jill Scott.

Jill Scott’s band came out to the roar of the crowd as everyone in attendance came closer to the stage. With a nice welcoming intro, Jill Emerged from stage right, and began her set. Opening with her most recent hit, “Golden”, she went on to play her impressive list of hit songs. “Getting In The Way”, “Whatever”, and “Cross My Mind” were all performed to the sheer delight to Scott’s fans. When she went into “He Loves Me” and extended the song into a falsetto, mini opera, the crowd was floored.

As she closed her set, she was told she had more time, so Scott and the band gave us an unreleased song from her upcoming album. The hook escapes me but the song was a funky, up beat dedication to the haters out there who help keep many people from fulfilling their dreams. With that she exited the stage and brought the day to a close. As the sun set behind the mountains and the crowd began leave the field, the summer music season began with a bang.

SAUL WILLIAMS: Open Letter To Oprah

Dear Ms. Winfrey,

It is with the greatest respect and adoration of your loving spirit that I write you. As a young child, I would sit beside my mother everyday and watch your program. As a young adult, with children of my own, I spend much less time in front of the television, but I am ever thankful for the positive effect that you continue to have on our nation, history and culture. The example that you have set as someone unafraid to answer their calling, even when the reality of that calling insists that one self-actualize beyond the point of any given example, is humbling, and serves as the cornerstone of the greatest faith. You, love, are a pioneer.

I am a poet.

Growing up in Newburgh, NY, with a father as a minister and a mother as a school teacher, at a time when we fought for our heroes to be nationally recognized, I certainly was exposed to the great names and voices of our past. I took great pride in competing in my churches Black History Quiz Bowl and the countless events my mother organized in hopes of fostering a generation of youth well versed in the greatness as well as the horrors of our history. Yet, even in a household where I had the privilege of personally interacting with some of the most outspoken and courageous luminaries of our times, I must admit that the voices that resonated the most within me and made me want to speak up were those of my peers, and these peers were emcees. Rappers.
.
Yes, Ms. Winfrey, I am what my generation would call "a Hip Hop head." Hip Hop has served as one of the greatest aspects of my self-definition. Lucky for me, I grew up in the 80's when groups like Public Enemy, Rakim, The jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and many more realized the power of their voices within the artform and chose to create music aimed at the upliftment of our generation.

As a student at Morehouse College where I studied Philosophy and Drama I was forced to venture across the street to Spelman College for all of my Drama classes, since Morehouse had no theater department of its own. I had few complaints. The performing arts scholarship awarded me by Michael Jackson had promised me a practically free ride to my dream school, which now had opened the doors to another campus that could make even the most focused of young boys dreamy, Spelman. One of my first theater professors, Pearle Cleage, shook me from my adolescent dream state. It was the year that Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" was released and our introduction to Snoop Dogg as he sang catchy hooks like "Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks..." Although, it was a playwriting class, what seemed to take precedence was Ms. Cleages political ideology, which had recently been pressed and bound in her 1st book, Mad at Miles. As, you know, in this book she spoke of how she could not listen to the music of Miles Davis and his muted trumpet without hearing the muted screams of the women that he was outspoken about "man-handling". It was my first exposure to the idea of an artist being held accountable for their actions outside of their art. It was the first time I had ever heard the word, "misogyny". And as Ms. Cleage would walk into the classroom fuming over the women she would pass on campus, blasting those Snoop lyrics from their cars and jeeps, we, her students, would be privy to many freestyle rants and raves on the dangers of nodding our heads to a music that could serve as our own demise.

Her words, coupled with the words of the young women I found myself interacting with forever changed how I listened to Hip Hop and quite frankly ruined what would have been a number of good songs for me. I had now been burdened with a level of awareness that made it impossible for me to enjoy what the growing masses were ushering into the mainstream. I was now becoming what many Hip Hop heads would call "a Backpacker", a person who chooses to associate themselves with the more "conscious" or politically astute artists of the Hip Hop community. What we termed as "conscious" Hip Hop became our preference for dance and booming systems. Groups like X-Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Brand Nubian, Arrested Development, Gangstarr and others became the prevailing music of our circle. We also enjoyed the more playful Hip Hop of De La Soul, Heiroglyphics, Das FX, Organized Konfusion. Digable Planets, The Fugees, and more. We had more than enough positivity to fixate on. Hip Hop was diverse.

I had not yet begun writing poetry. Most of my friends hardly knew that I had been an emcee in high school. I no longer cared to identify myself as an emcee and my love of oratory seemed misplaced at Morehouse where most orators were actually preachers in training, speaking with the Southern drawl of Dr. King although they were 19 and from the North. I spent my time doing countless plays and school performances. I was in line to become what I thought would be the next Robeson, Sidney, Ossie, Denzel, Snipes... It wasn't until I was in graduate school for acting at NYU that I was invited to a poetry reading in Manhattan where I heard Asha Bandele, Sapphire, Carl Hancock Rux, Reggie Gaines, Jessica Care Moore, and many others read poems that sometimes felt like monologues that my newly acquired journal started taking the form of a young poets'. Yet, I still noticed that I was a bit different from these poets who listed names like: Audrey Lourde, June Jordan, Sekou Sundiata etc, when asked why they began to write poetry. I knew that I had been inspired to write because of emcees like Rakim, Chuck D, LL, Run DMC... Hip Hop had informed my love of poetry as much or even more than my theater background which had exposed me to Shakespeare, Baraka, Fugard, Genet, Hansberry and countless others. In those days, just a mere decade ago, I started writing to fill the void between what I was hearing and what I wished I was hearing. It was not enough for me to critique the voices I heard blasting through the walls of my Brooklyn brownstone. I needed to create examples of where Hip Hop, particularly its lyricism, could go. I ventured to poetry readings with my friends and neighbors, Dante Smith (now Mos Def), Talib Kwele, Erycka Badu, Jessica Care Moore, Mums the Schemer, Beau Sia, Suheir Hammad...all poets that frequented the open mics and poetry slams that we commonly saw as "the other direction" when Hip hop reached that fork in the road as you discussed on your show this past week. On your show you asked the question, "Are all rappers poets?" Nice. I wanted to take the opportunity to answer this question for you.

The genius, as far as the marketability, of Hip Hop is in its competitiveness. Its roots are as much in the dignified aspects of our oral tradition as it is in the tradition of "the dozens" or "signifying". In Hip Hop, every emcee is automatically pitted against every other emcee, sort of like characters with super powers in comic books. No one wants to listen to a rapper unless they claim to be the best or the greatest. This sort of braggadocio leads to all sorts of tirades, showdowns, battles, and sometimes even deaths. In all cases, confidence is the ruling card. Because of the competitive stance that all emcees are prone to take, they, like soldiers begin to believe that they can show no sign of vulnerability. Thus, the most popular emcees of our age are often those that claim to be heartless or show no feelings or signs of emotion. The poet, on the other hand, is the one who realizes that their vulnerability is their power. Like you, unafraid to shed tears on countless shows, the poet finds strength in exposing their humanity, their vulnerability, thus making it possible for us to find connection and strength through their work. Many emcees have been poets. But, no, Ms. Winfrey, not all emcees are poets. Many choose gangsterism and business over the emotional terrain through which true artistry will lead. But they are not to blame. I would now like to address your question of leadership.

You may recall that in immediate response to the attacks of September 11th, our president took the national stage to say to the American public and the world that we would "...show no sign of vulnerability". Here is the same word that distinguishes poets from rappers, but in its history, more accurately, women from men. To make such a statement is to align oneself with the ideology that instills in us a sense of vulnerability meaning "weakness". And these meanings all take their place under the heading of what we consciously or subconsciously characterize as traits of the feminine. The weapon of mass destruction is the one that asserts that a holy trinity would be a father, a male child, and a ghost when common sense tells us that the holiest of trinities would be a mother, a father, and a child: Family. The vulnerability that we see as weakness is the saving grace of the drunken driver who because of their drunken/vulnerable state survives the fatal accident that kills the passengers in the approaching vehicle who tighten their grip and show no physical vulnerability in the face of their fear. Vulnerability is also the saving grace of the skate boarder who attempts a trick and remembers to stay loose and not tense during their fall. Likewise, vulnerability has been the saving grace of the African American struggle as we have been whipped, jailed, spat upon, called names, and killed, yet continue to strive forward mostly non-violently towards our highest goals. But today we are at a crossroads, because the institutions that have sold us the crosses we wear around our necks are the most overt in the denigration of women and thus humanity. That is why I write you today, Ms. Winfrey. We cannot address the root of what plagues Hip Hop without addressing the root of what plagues today's society and the world.

You see, Ms. Winfrey, at it's worse; Hip Hop is simply a reflection of the society that birthed it. Our love affair with gangsterism and the denigration of women is not rooted in Hip Hop; rather it is rooted in the very core of our personal faith and religions. The gangsters that rule Hip Hop are the same gangsters that rule our nation. 50 Cent and George Bush have the same birthday (July 6th). For a Hip Hop artist to say "I do what I wanna do/Don't care if I get caught/The DA could play this mothaf@kin tape in court/I'll kill you/ I ain't playin'" epitomizes the confidence and braggadocio we expect an admire from a rapper who claims to represent the lowest denominator. When a world leader with the spirit of a cowboy (the true original gangster of the West: raping, stealing land, and pillaging, as we clapped and cheered.) takes the position of doing what he wants to do, regardless of whether the UN or American public would take him to court, then we have witnessed true gangsterism and violent negligence. Yet, there is nothing more negligent than attempting to address a problem one finds on a branch by censoring the leaves.

Name calling, racist generalizations, sexist perceptions, are all rooted in something much deeper than an uncensored music. Like the rest of the world, I watched footage on AOL of you dancing mindlessly to 50 Cent on your fiftieth birthday as he proclaimed, "I got the ex/if you're into taking drugs/ I'm into having sex/ I ain't into making love" and you looked like you were having a great time. No judgment. I like that song too. Just as I do, James Brown's Sex Machine or Grand Master Flashes "White Lines". Sex, drugs, and rock and roll is how the story goes. Censorship will never solve our problems. It will only foster the sub-cultures of the underground, which inevitably inhabit the mainstream. There is nothing more mainstream than the denigration of women as projected through religious doctrine. Please understand, I am by no means opposing the teachings of Jesus, by example (he wasn't Christian), but rather the men that have used his teachings to control and manipulate the masses. Hip Hop, like Rock and Roll, like the media, and the government, all reflect an idea of power that labels vulnerability as weakness. I can only imagine the non-emotive hardness that you have had to show in order to secure your empire from the grips of those that once stood in your way: the old guard. You reflect our changing times. As time progresses we sometimes outgrow what may have served us along the way. This time, what we have outgrown, is not hip hop, rather it is the festering remnants of a God depicted as an angry and jealous male, by men who were angry and jealous over the minute role that they played in the everyday story of creation. I am sure that you have covered ideas such as these on your show, but we must make a connection before our disconnect proves fatal.

We are a nation at war. What we fail to see is that we are fighting ourselves. There is no true hatred of women in Hip Hop. At the root of our nature we inherently worship the feminine. Our overall attention to the nurturing guidance of our mothers and grandmothers as well as our ideas of what is sexy and beautiful all support this. But when the idea of the feminine is taken out of the idea of what is divine or sacred then that worship becomes objectification. When our governed morality asserts that a woman is either a virgin or a whore, then our understanding of sexuality becomes warped. Note the dangling platinum crosses over the bare asses being smacked in the videos. The emcees of my generation are the ministers of my father's generation. They too had a warped perspective of the feminine. Censoring songs, sermons, or the tirades of radio personalities will change nothing except the format of our discussion. If we are to sincerely address the change we are praying for then we must first address to whom we are praying.

Thank you, Ms. Winfrey, for your forum, your heart, and your vision. May you find the strength and support to bring about the changes you wish to see in ways that do more than perpetuate the myth of enmity.

In loving kindness,

Saul Williams

MVD Audio Releases-Fat Jack & Mascaria Time Span -Julius Papp Abstract Latin Lounge

MVD Entertainment Group is one of the hottest distributors of music right now, with an impressive line up of CDs and DVDS. They have been extra nice to yours truly by hooking me up with tons of material to review. Make sure you check them out at their websites and look for their products at your favorite music shop.

If you can't find them there, you can alway order from their site or browse Amazon.com. Here's a couple of goodies they have on deck!

FAT JACK & MASCARIA - TIMESPAN

While I have mentioned this AV Bombshelter released CD before, it is definitely worth mentioning again. Fat Jack The Elephant is one of the Project Blowed alumni of producers, with an impressive resume of banging beats. Not the typical Casio synthesizer sounding beat makers, Fat Jack & Mascaria keep it true to the hip-hop ethos of sampling rare grooves, giving their productions a Golden Age of Hip-Hop feel. Fitting for X-Clan DJ and producer of Abstract Rude. he teams up with long time 2MEX/The Chemikillz/Myka Nine producer Mascaria and together they craft some of the illest beats never rhymed on.

This CD is like a sketch pad for emcees to get their flows on with. This is actually the type of hip-hop CD that you could play at work and possible get props from your boss. Click here to read my previous post on Timespan, complete with full audio clips from the album and a video epk!

JULIUS PAPP - ABSTRACT LATIN JOURNEY Julius Papp has a mix CD that is strictly for the beaches and the dance floors! The globe trotting DJ's new collection of club hits is titled "Abstract Latin Journey". It's filled with seriously chill house tracks, guaranteed to get you moving. The title is a slight lift of the series of mix cds under a similarly named theme, but this one is headed for the sunny side cabanas and white sand beaches.

Papp has served up the perfect soundtrack to your next vacation to Cancun or Ibiza, mixing some of the hottest Latin remixed tracks around. Standout songs include the amazing but way to short accapella version of the King Street classic"A Thousand Years","Mongobonix", "Destination" and the clever re-working of "808", entitled "Pacific State". Make sure you pack this CD in your luggage before your next exotic getaway trip!
