I’m never disappointed in the Rolling Stone’s taste in music….. because I’m ALWAYS disappointed in the Rolling Stone’s taste in music. Of all the great indie bands on Myspace THIS is what you’ve come up with? I think you just went through and picked the ones with “sweet” names. Gimme a break guys.

Ghostface: The Game Is Fishy from HipHopDX.com

What’s the status of Wu-Tang now? There was a lotta buzz on the Internet that there might be some beef after you failed to perform with the group at the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors.

Nah, there’s never no beef. What it was, the VH-1 Honors was supposed to have took place in August, so I switched my European tour dates to October. So when October came we had to start that tour, and when they changed their date to October it just didn’t work, ya know what I mean? But when everybody gets situated, we’re gonna do another album. Even if it’s our last album, the world will know, yo, this is it and we’re hanging it up. But whatever we do, it’s just gotta be monster.

MOVING FROM CHARITY TO AFRICAN EMPOWERMENT: DIAMONDS PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BOTSWANA AND SOUTH AFRICA

IT TAKES A CHILD TO RAISE A CONTINENT

When you look into the face of a young child in Africa, you should be able to see the future of a better world. Some may affirm it takes a village to raise a child. Yet for many reasons today in Africa, it takes a child with a good education, nutrition, health care and development opportunities to raise a village, a nation and a continent out of poverty and disease.

Respected African leaders like former South Africa President Nelson Mandela, President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa and President Festus Mogae of Botswana and many others have expressed concern about the current wave of misinformation in public discourse with respect to the issues of diamonds from Africa. In a letter to Warner Brothers and to "Blood Diamond" movie director Ed Zwick, Nelson Mandela cautioned, "It would be deeply regrettable if the making of the film inadvertently obscured the truth, and, as a result, led the world to believe that an appropriate response might be to cease buying mined diamonds from Africa." He added, "We hope that the desire to tell a gripping and important real life historical story will not result in the destabilization of African diamond producing countries, and, ultimately their peoples." We concur with Mr. Mandela.

It is unfortunate that old stereotypical images of an underdeveloped, self-destructive, savage Africa have been re-conjured up in the mindset of too many people by those who may be well intentioned but who, through their unmitigated zeal to make and market movies, documentaries, and other forms of media, inadvertently display a hurtful, counterproductive, irresponsible and less than accurate portrayal of the current reality of Africa. Despite this inaccurate interpretation, we welcome and are thankful for the opportunity for dialogue with all who are focused on this issue, especially human rights organizations, like Amnesty International.

Even in Sierra Leone today, the issue of diamonds and the stability of that economy is quite different and far more productive than what is displayed in the movie. Since Sierra Leone became a part of the Kimberley Process in 2003, revenues from diamonds in that country have increased 100%, helping to repair its tragic past. Our job is to help strengthen the Kimberley Process.

We are very strong defenders of freedom of speech and freedom of artistic expression. And, we know with freedom comes responsibility. The objective of this open letter is to clarify the facts and be responsive and responsible in helping African people empower themselves. We all must be willing to support efforts and initiatives that can make a real difference toward ending poverty and disease in Africa. More than a handout, the people of Africa need a helping hand toward empowerment, trade and investment.

While completing a nine-day Simmons Jewelry Company fact-finding mission to southern Africa to see firsthand how diamonds are empowering Africans in Botswana and South Africa, we witnessed concrete examples of how the diamond industry directly enhances sustainable economic development and contributes to the overall self-empowerment of African people and communities. We first chose those places in Africa where there are stable democratic governments and the kind of government-private sector joint ventures that have a factual and transparent track record of improving the quality of life.

We were in search of a success model not only for the diamond industry but, eventually, for other extractive industries in Africa. We found that Botswana is the undisputed world model of African empowerment when it comes to the extraction, processing and production of diamonds. We visited thriving commercial training and production centers, as well as well-equipped public schools, hospitals, family care facilities, orphanages, and HIV/AIDS clinics, all financially supported throughout Botswana from diamond beneficiation. We were heartened by the positive developments we saw and we believe these effective measures can be the model for other countries in Africa that possess vast resources.

When we arrived back in the United States one week ago, we reported our findings of fact and announced the establishment of the Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.(TM)).

As a nonprofit international organization, the mission of the D.E.F.(TM) is to raise money for the development and empowerment of people and communities in Africa where diamonds are a natural resource. We are in the jewelry and diamond business. We believe in corporate social responsibility. Out of this, The Simmons Jewelry Company launched the Green Initiative. The purpose of the Green Initiative is to raise funds for the D.E.F.(TM) Twenty-five percent of the net proceeds from the sale of Simmons Jewelry Company Green Initiative items go directly to the D.E.F.(TM)

During this holiday season of giving, we urge others in the diamond industry and all people of goodwill to give back more and work harder to help make a productive difference in Africa. Let's refrain from paternalistic arrogance and misinformed judgments about an entire continent that has been so blessed by God with an abundance of natural resources and great potential. Let's help them realize that potential. Our love for Africa is unconditional. Will you join us?

Sincerely,
Russell Simmons and
Dr. Benjamin Chavis

WHY KWANZA By Maulana Karenga

As an African American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world African community, Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense. Given the profound significance Kwanzaa has for African Americans and indeed, the world African community, it is imperative that an authoritative source and site be made available to give an accurate and expansive account of its origins, concepts, values, symbols and practice.this video is part of the bonus scenes from Owen 'Alik Shahadah award winning film 500 Years Later (www.500yearslater.com), produced by M.K. Smoke 'em if you got 'em

I have personal reasons for finding this post interesting. I wont go into detail about it but I will say that I am a smoker who wants to quit. If you are to, this post might help us both quit.

Quote from the story:
According to the study, eliminating all cigarette promotions would result in an average increase of 34 cents per pack in cigarette prices, which would result in almost a 4 percent decline in cigarette use.

It's not a fad, but the naked truth. Between 1991 and '98, UCLA reeled off eight wins in a row. Then, starting in '99, USC has won the past seven, scoring twice as many points (276-138) and winning by an average of almost 20 points a game. USC holds the series edge, 41-27-7.

Kramer The Klansman

I am so tired of these stupid fawkers. Listen, if you’re a comedian, you have a time and a way to use the N word in your skit and not start a riot. I don't know why you REALLY need to say it, but you can. It's done all the time.

I was talking to my homie K-Beats the other day, about how when you watch Def Comedy Jam, all the comedians start their set off with a joke about white people in the crowd and how most of the jokes are not that funny. You would think some one would start off a set with something a little more original but at least they keep the racial slurs out (When referring to anyone other than themselves that is. That's another topic all together)

What that Frankenstein looking monster Kramer did is the exact opposite times 10!

Michael Richards blew up on stage at a heckler and threw out the N word more than NWA did in their first song. He was walking around looking like his meds were clashing with each other, rambling because someone in the crowd didn't like his stale ass jokes. Then he tried to explain it, talking 'bout "Well you interrupted me, that's what you get when you interrupt me?' Ohhhh...ok..when you interrupt Kramer, the Klansman in him comes out. That's catchy actually, Kramer the Klansman. He should use it, he could do another TV show with it, him and Mel Gibson both play themselves, literally and physically. They are both very good at it.

If Richards was a funny comic, he might have been able to flip it on the heckler, who didn’t really say anything more insulting than "You suck, your washed up". Instead, he just flipped.

See for yourself, the video is at TMZ.com, and probably up on YouTube by now.

The hell with Michael Richards. The only reason he was funny on Seinfeld was because he was a stooge, what with all his falling down, making faces, and his stolen Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp bits, goof ball, style of comedy. The guy was a dick then and not much has changed since. It was clear that he was not joking around or amused at the Laugh Factory. He totally lost control of himself and the TRUE Mr. Richards came out, in full center stage light. Fuck you Kramer. Fuck you while hanging upside down, with forks sticking out your azz. How's that?!? Somebody should have spit on him.

(--Going to break all my Seinfeld DVDs--)

HIP HOP LEGENDS X-CLAN AND PUBLIC ENEMY UNITE FOR TOUR

PR RELEASE:

Hip Hop legends X-Clan and Public Enemy have announced they will unite for a month long tour together. The tour launches on Dec 5th in San Diego, CA and hits key major markets across the U.S. before wrapping up in Fargo, ND on Dec 22nd.

“Everybody that I know in the cultural worlds of music dreams about a tour with Public Enemy and the X-Clan. No longer a dream, the reality manifests in December 2006,” says X-Clan frontman Brother J. “Public Enemy has been holding it down for the longest and they were the first major conscious group to do it big for the people. Chuck D is my inspiration for remaining independent with my music and I will salute that wisdom by spitting the fire on this tour. Let the word be born: Revolution, Evolution, the Solution. Peace!”

The tour announcement comes on the heels of X-Clan’s appearances on BET’s 106 & Park, Def Poetry Jam, the Legends of Hip Hop Concert and sold out tours with Grammy-winning reggae star Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and Jurassic 5. The intense buzz surrounding X-Clan’s first studio album in over a decade, Return From Mecca, has also garnered attention from national publications like MTV, Spin, Source, Skratch, Murder Dog, The Washington Post and Sirius Satellite Radio.

The highly influential New Yorkers Public Enemy have been together 24 years and delivered a barrage of classic albums awash with politically-charged lyrics. It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and Fear of a Black Planet featured their finest moments - including "Don't Believe The Hype," "Bring the Noise" and "Fight the Power." The group, which still features founding members Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Professor Griff, has scores of imitators but is regarded by many as the definitive rap group.

Making its debut in 1990 with, To The East Blackwards, and with there 1992 sophomore effort, Xodus, (both of which are considered classics and peaked at #11 on the Hip Hop charts) X-Clan was at the forefront of hip hop’s cultural movement. With hits like “Funkin' Lesson,” “Heed The Word of the Brother” and “Raise The Flag,” X-Clan secured hip hop as their vehicle to deliver and advance the science and math of upliftment, popularizing the ideas of Malcolm X, Sonny Carson, Huey Newton and Clarence 13X, while keeping dance floors packed.

The world of hip hop has been buzzing since X-Clan, led by Brother J the Clan’s founder and original lead MC, announced their return after nearly a decade-long hiatus. The highly influential group will release their comeback album, Return From Mecca, on January 30, 2006 through underground tastemakers Suburban Noize Records. The highly anticipated album finds the group reforming their groundbreaking tradition of ancestral wisdom, culture and a signature lyrical style that appeals to all generations of hip hop. Joining X-Clan on their celebrated return are a bevy of high-profile collaborators; among them Damian Marley, Jurassic 5’s Chali 2NA, KRS-One, Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, RBX, Abstract Rude, YZ, DJ Quik, DJ Khalil, Jake One and Bean One.

But the case of the student who was in the libaray, studying after hours is too crazy. His crime was reading a book when the library was closed and they thought he posed a threat. To who, the librarian or the dusty as Issac Asamov and Anne Rice books on the shelf?

Straight up Keystone Cops style out here in LA. Straight fucking brutality!

Five Minutes of Funk with Theo Kousoulis (Photographer/model)

theo
We reached out to the thousands of friends on our MySpace page and asked them if they would be interested in sharing a bit with us and answering some questions, nothing to personal, just standard questions that might give us a peek into their life.

One of the first to respond was Theo Kousoulis. Theo was born in 1977, graduated from Deptford High School in 1995. He taped Average Joe: Hawaii in the summer of 2003, but was sworn to secrecy. He also sidelines as a fashion photographer. He took time out to answer my pesky questions, and for that alone you should check his MySpace page and leave a comment. Besides, he has some amazing shots of models on his page..run, don’t walk, to his page! Read the answers below!

1.Who is your favorite music artist(s) and why?--I enjoy anyone who can make a musical composition which helps me lift my mood or move my body. In the hip hop realm, I respect artists like Eminem and Tupac, Jay Z, guys who had nothing and made lots of something out of whatever they had. They moved not only people but mountains of energy with their emotional music.

2. What song/CD(s) are you listening to now?--Currently I am listening to Cold as Ice. There's just something about Ice Ice Baby I'm just not over yet. I think everyone is just in denial when they say they think that's whack. I bet they know all bob their heads to it still.

3. Whats the strangest thing that has happened to you lately?-Some guy emailed me from out of nowhere asking me to fill out ten questions and said If I didn't fill them out that in 7 days I'd be dead. I didn't even have to see a video on it -he said, - I'd just be dead. so I had to do this. (Good idea! You have extened your life!!)

4. If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?--Wonder Woman. Only because I'm amazed at how a model looking lady in the 80's with high heel platform boots panty hose, and a yellow lasso can fight crime and still not see a chiropractor for a bad back and neck at the end of the day's hard work. Obviously she knows some trade secret the LAPD doesn't.

5. Where you at? --Right now I'm enjoying having fun directing, photographing, singing, dancing, kicking midgets in the nose, tossing babies over the playground gym set, you know.. the norm.. oh and...developing artists, bands, model, actors into a better them. see my site, everyone! I help industry get their image upgraded through some bad ass imagery. Also we have a new music video coming out in 2007 called the main attraction with hot sexy models... you wouldnt want to see that would you? hmmm.. behind the scenes on my MySpace profile.

6. Everybody is a hater! What/Who do you hate? (Pet Peeves, gripes, complaints, etc..)
I don’t hate, though I dislike very much the fact I walk down Hollywood Boulevard at 2am and me and my girl get attacked by a guy in a large funny hat that wants to rhyme my name into a rap while staring at ma' girlz behind. I dislike very much also the fact that the homeless aren't really homeless.. Hollywood boulevard is their home. so techinically they live there year round.. so there. Oh also I dislike the fact that advertisments always use happy sexy people when they are really trying to sell you death in a box (cigarettes for example)

7. Where you at and what are you up to? (Any upcoming shows, releases, projects you want to plug)--Shout out to my hot models for staying sexi and showing me what they working with' Shout out to Big Bird on Sesame street, couldn’t do it without you man..all those valuable hints on the alphabet. Man you da bomb.. My boy Maurice from LA clubber who helped make our first video so successful.. and the big guy upstairs for giving me life to live the dream.

8. Saturday morning cartoon when you were a kidwhat was your favorite?--Anything with Superheros, batman, superman.. batman was my favorite.. when they also included wonder woman. wowza... lol

9. What do you like to do when you’re not working?--Is there such a thing as not working? I never got the memo or fax on this.... who must I fire??

10. Where would you be if you could be anywhere in the world? Favorite travel spot?
Greece baby... nowhere else.

11. Are you the same Theo that was on Average Joe in 04? I watched some of the show but missed alot of it. Did you get to spend any quality time with Larissa and take her away from the Average Joes??--Ha-ha yeah, what a show..... dont beleive anything you see on tv, or NBC for that matter.. its all in the name of entertainment. View modelnow.biz/theoreel.htm. As you can see I like acting, and love the camera. I had to cause drama, that was my purpose.

Really Really Good-Senatorial Slurring In-Kerry, Allen, Arza and more!

Nothing but really really good sweet sticky bits of blog blurbs for ya. Don’t forget to make those appointments for the dentist. Might as well do some preventative maintenance since this years candy harvest was such a hit! If you were out in the streets with the kids last night, sit back and catch up with the latest news and links, from your favorite b-boy blogger El Q as we get ready to hit the voting booth...maybe. I would hate to be called a bad name and "subdued" by the local campaing team leader.  Don't laugh, it could happen.  Read on for the low down.

Senatorial Slurring In

The Race is On!  Race in politics is the topic of the day.  All you have to do is take a glance at the news and you’ll find the latest racial slur, spit out fresh for the headlines, from the mouth of the guy you’re about to vote for!  (maybe)   Is it really that hard for politicians not to use racial slurs?  I can understand drunken entertainers, but if you're in office, you are supposed to be a little smarter than that, no? It's amazing how many politicians are slipping up lately.  Read on and don't forget to vote for you favorite pouty mouth!  Here’s a short list of the recent offenders.

NOW THAT'S A DIS!

John Kerry is catching some heat regarding Iraq and the military.  He has apologized but it may be too late.

George Allen makes demeaning comments

~Personally….I never heard of the word macaca. Whatever it is, I’m sure he isn’t saying it in the cool, down way…you know, like the way people try to get away with the N word by throwing the G in there real hard..I don’t think George put any cool C’s in there..

-Speaking of Cool C…

cool cCool C Given Date for Execution-this is an older post from HipHopMusic.com. Cool C was given a stay of execution but I’m not sure if there have been any updates on his case. When I do, you’ll be the first to know so stay tuned.  If you’re not into hip-hop, you’ll have no clue of who Cool C is. Check the links to catch up on him and his musical past, but what I found amazing was the info on Lauretha Viard, the police officer he shot.

From ProDeathPenalty.com:

Lauretha was 43 years old and had served for 9 years. She was a single parent raising two sons. A song named Slipped Away, The Ballad of Lauretha Vaird was written in honor of the fallen officer.*There are still appeals pending in this case and the execution is not likely to take place on this date.

Have you heard about this one yet? The new update to the National Space Policy is raising some eyebrows with its hard line stance on which nations should have space missions. Watch the clip below to hear Al Gore's reply. Read more about the issue here.

Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple

Many of you youn'un may not even know about this man and what happened in Jonestown. If you do a search on the name Jim Jones, you know who you'll get. Not that I'm complaining, but it does make me wonder why the Dipset capo named himself after this guy in the first place.

Kid shot in the head, lives with HALF his brain

This clip is not for the squeamish, as it is unbelievable disturbing. A little boy loses HALF of his brain. Doctors save him and he lives, even while half his skull and brain is gone. His momma gets the award for telling him his head looks like a deflated basketball. Not funny, but this clip is a MUST SEE!!

Airshow accident involving a Russian Fighter Jet

This is a scary clip of a fighter jet hitting the deck in Russia. I never understand why people go to these things. I know that it's still kind of rare for someone to get hurt at one of these shows, but it DOES happen. How many types of clips have you seen, some fan sitting in the stands, enjoying his popcorn and hot dog..all of a sudden, BAMN a fighter jet plane's engine is sitting on your lap with a couple gallons of jet fuel lighting you up.

If it were me, I would have stayed home and caught it on cable. But that's just me.

JhaVoice is one of the new artist to watch, as she re-introduces herself with her second CD. "Voice 2 Sing" is her first full length project and is a incredible show of talent.
